Watching the golf and Ken Brown has been heard to say:
"Monty's got the grumps this morning. Maybe it's the news that Ollie has his hand in the cookie jar for the Ryder Cup."

Robert Lee said when interviewed yesterday he would put both his house and the guy interviewing him house on Olazabal getting it so it would appear a done deal now he's changed his mind.

Thing is by 2014, Monty will be considered too old. Even though he ought todo the scotish one.

I really do think Ollie would be better in 2012, when the Ryder cup goes to the states.

I was quite shocked after everyone on golf night had as much as said it was official that Monty Had the Celtic Manor Ryder cup in 2010, only to turn around last night & say, oh, Ollie was back in the running & nothing had been decided on.

Now come on Sky, come one Golf night team... Either tell us something is definite when it is, or just say its speculation when it isn't. It really doesn't look good, a suposedly profesional group of golf journalists leading us all up the garden path like this.

lol dodger.

I supose its not. Lee is not to know he's been given duff info. But until the official anouncement, they really shouldn't make us think its official, like when last week, Lee had said it was official Monty was Going to be the onefor 2010.

Our Ryder cup Field Marshall Monty for Wales.

It was all over the papers too.

Ollie would make a great captain anytime. And perhaps we should have had Ollie instead of Faldo in hindsight.

The cynic in me does wonder whether all the spin about monty getting the ob was to get some sort of commitment from Ollie to enter his name again... Just a thought.

I hate politics in any sport & it really stinks if this is the case here.

Well maybe Monty has been offered and hes turned it down!

Monty may well feel that he can still qualify! You never know!

lol, well that does turn on the head what Golf night was saying last week. Though, maybe wise to take with a pinch of salt what they are telling us at the moment.

Monty isn't playing too badly. But doubt he will be good enough to make the team without being chosen. I think even Monty knows that now & why he was allowed to be convinced to put his name in the hat for this next one on Wales, 4 years earlier than he'd intended putting his name in the hat for captain.

I think we'll have to bide our time & wait for the official, official anouncement.

It is odd that this should really have all been decided before the end of the last Ryder cup concluded.

As I remember Faldo was picked before the end of the 2006 tournament, for the 2008 one.

He'll be 51, same age as Faldo last year, 4 years younger than Jacklin's last captaincy, Torrance was 49. Most are in the late 40s when they get the job, and have passed the chance to qualify for the team.

Monty in Scotland would be immense and a fitting end to his playing days on the regular tour.

I'm really surprised he was even in contention this time, as I thought he'd be so keen on Gleneagles.

I agree, given that the first thing people talk about in regard to Monty is his order of Merits record and his amazing Ryder cup contributions. I think the captaincy (sp) in Scotland would be a fitting tribute to all he has achieved for Europe in the many Ryder cups he's played in.

Homer, I'm going to throw a name into the hat to captain in the States after whoever gets this gig.

As far as I can see this person aint even had a mention at all for a future Ryder Cup captain however in my opinion not only would he make an excellent choice I think he would be superb in the role.

He would certainly have the rspect of the players, respect of the US players and be respected by the US crowds.

Step forward.........

Jesper Parnevik.

I know McGinley is starting to make noises about wanting a shot at captaining the side however I think he along with Bjorn are players who will have to fight for the 2016 captaincy.
