If my Twitter timeline is anything to go by then the world and his wife have been sent a free pair of the new Adizero shoes over the last week. I was wondering where my pair have got to;)

Not having a go at Adidas/TM as I am sure that this is good marketing but I have never seen so many ex sportsmen, celebs etc posting about a freebie pair of golf shoes. Certainly seem to have gone for a scattergun approach to get the word out.

Yeah but they can't use them because of the damage ... Really ruined my carpet in the hall way .. But I cannot tweet that can I ?

I noticed that too... plenty of people seem to have a nice new blue pair...

I wonder if I hound them on Twitter they;ll send me a pair too?

Depends, if you have had your name in the paper in the last 20 years or so, even briefly, then I suspect that you may already be on the list :)

I ordered a £40 (inc delivery) pair from Adidas yesterday and today they've been reduced to £29 plus delivery!

Don't all the major companies give out free stuff to celebs ?

yeh - Adidas recognise they have a problem with the design so get loads of hi (med and lo)-viz celebs wearing them and clubs would find it difficult to ban the shoes at risk of excluding a celeb playing. I say - celebs go stick yer zeros where the sun don't shine and don't expect any special attention at my place - but please come and have a knock and tell all your friends how nice we are :)

Aren't these marketing for the new shoes and not the old shoes

I'm going to suggest that TM/Adidas don't even know about or are even worried about 2 clubs and the marks

It appears FJ aren't worried because looking at their new ones they will have the same issue in soft greens.

just wait - when they have enough pairs of them out there they will claim that any attempt to ban the shoes will be a restriction on their trade and ability to do business. They will claim a ban is illegal - show me the rule of golf that says shoes must not damage the surface of a green or a rule that defines a golf shoe 'spike' that their 'spikes' infringe.

This was not a dig at Adidas or anything to do with the damage issues as this is the new model. Just seen nothing like the sheer number of people posting about their new freebie shoes. My whole timeline this morning was wall to wall pictures of blue shoes and not the elvis suede variety

Remember the same when the new Amp Cell my Fly came out - they just throw stuff at celebs

Addidas must give a ton of stuff away to sports men and women along with celebs.

I remember watching some Celeb charity golf thing on TV that had a load of Cricketers, Footballers and Rugby Guys and all of them had TM stuff... even Tim Henman.

Rules of Golf has little to do with it - if a Club wants to ban anyone playing a certain ball, club or wearing a particular type of clothing they can, their bat, ball and wicket.

I know - in the same way they can decide whether or not to have lady members :)

If folks want to find ways of getting a golf clubs using legislation they will.
