when i was fitted for my i20's the fitter said i was border line stiff/x stiff. he told me to go for the stiff as i my tempo will slow down when i get better. it hasn't. i am currently using s300's and was wondering if anyone has made the leap to x stiff. i'm just looking for a little more consistancy with my irons but i'm worried that i might bite off more than i can chew. i cant find one to demo so i might have to buy one and stick in in my practice 7 iron

I use rifle 6.5 shafts in my irons which I think are either x-stiff or certainly at the top end of stiff. I like mine and get on with them fine. Go with what you like the feel of most and what you feel comfortable with

this is the idea. stiffer and heavyer. add some control

you can go heavier without going stiffer......so to speak :)

I went this route (KBS Tour S) because Craw had a set of shafts at a reasonable price, although I was fitted for Tour R or 90 S at the time.

The intention behind the change was for an improvement in both distance and dispersion - I got the latter in spades and don't regret the fact that I might have a slightly better distance solution available! Those that have played with me will know what the result was (and can of course comment!)

What was your swing speed?

If you had an avg swing speed of 93/95 then yes an x may benefit you, if you are hitting left and high all the time.

As stated above poss a 6.5 project x would be better, it plays more a firm stiff, a 7.0 would be x.

Shaft fitting will all depend on your shot shape, and swing. Not many people use x flex in irons.

Your Iron shafts at the moment are at the far end of heavy....I also use S300's and they are one of the heavier shafts at 127grms....
Why is it that you want to go extra stiff......

my driver swing is 110mph. not sure about my irons. my 7 irons goes 175 carry in summer. my ball flight is too high and i do miss left alot

from what i've been told (i'm no expert) its my transition that is quite jerky that makes me half suitable for a x stiff. from what the ping fitter said its something about shaft recovery durring the down swing

Have gone away from 6.5s here to something a little less stiff but a fair bit heavier. Still got the X-forgeds with the the 6.5s in, about to put them up for sale if you wanted a try? Where are you based?

Ha ha did she get you mate

i was wondering when you'd come in on this. she remembered my hybrids had white heads and noticed me cleaning a black headed one. she stayed quiet and google it. later that day she said ''by the way, we're having them chair covers now you've blown £130 on a golf stick''

When I got fitted for my irons I had the s300 in the jpx 825 pro and x stiff tfc in the ping i20's. the ball flights and distance were pretty much identical. Feel of the s300's was better !

I like the way you say "a" wedding not "our" wedding, not expecting it to last long then?
