Hartsbourne Golf Club

It's one of the assoc of Jewish golf courses.

A few of my mates play in the "Glancy", which is the annual meeting of all the clubs, and is high profile and played over 3 days.
He reckons that Hartsbourne is the best he has played, and he has played all of them except Coombe hill.

He said it was very tough off the whites, but it is a great course, according to him.

No foursomes or skins matches then?

I have been invited to an event at this club in Herts. Anyone played it or heard anything about it?
Never played it, but it is next door to my club, and I can give you a little word of warning. If you're on the 15th green or 16th tee and you hear a shout of FORE, be warned that the errant ball is most likely to come from a completely unexpected direction - over the boundary hedge! Our 5th runs alongside that hedge, and the normal prevailing wind plus typical fade shape of most players sends a lot of balls OOB over the hedge.

Played yesterday. It was a corporate day for a product I don't own nor will ever own, but I managed to get a sneaky invite.

Nice course, not long but quite strategic with a lot of greens with slopes dictating where you should or shouldn't be with your approach. Greens were very good and quite fast. A shortish, but straight player with a tidy short game should do well.

Played OK, some good long driving but some dodgy short game. Had to skip dinner but as I was leaving, the event was being led by one Edward Sheringham, formerly of Man U and Spurs!

Don't forget his excellent contribution for West Ham! :D Played for a couple of (other) dodgy clubs as well!

Abridge is another of the Glancy clubs. Couldn't get a Bacon Sarnie when I played it - very nice and was venue for Regional Open Qualifying this year - but I believe they are available these days. Lee Park is another, though like Abridge is open to all these days. The Glancy event - in it's preent form - may be an unforseen casualty of the Equality Act! I know Coombe Hill declined to host it because of possible litigation worries. I'm not eligible to play - my slice is only golf related - but I know a couple of folk that have played.

I'd love to argue, but couldn't.

We are on the good end of the reciprocal deal, places like Coombe Hill are £100 plus green fees, ex. members being Winston Churchill and members of Royalty.

We are £10 with a member. The closest to the above is Stu_C looks like Winston Churchill, and scouser is a royal pain-in-the-arse!
