Random question I know but can anyone tell me how long it takes? Anyone been or know anyone who has been?

The reason I ask is that I am dropping the wife/child off and want to know if I have time to get a round in locally before I have to be back to pick them up. :)

Cheers.

Rob - Yes, just about.

Great place, magical if you like the film. I would say that 3-4 hours is no problem, particularly if they spend a bit of time in the cafe as well. Going past 4hrs may be a push but could depend on your child. The last few holes may cost you though, as they may be giving it major hammer in the very large and tempting shop. Have you watched any of the films? If you have you may surprise yourself and enjoy it. It really is very good.

But at some point you have to try the butterbeer. When you go to places like this you have to suck it up and pay the cash. It is exciting for the kids to try these things. I had a Flaming Moe when I went to The Simpsons areas in Universal in Florida and I was beside myself. The cost is secondary to the memory.

Most of the tour is not guided so it can take any amount of time to get round, when i took the kids they was 2 hours in the gift shop deciding what to spend their pocket money on, i would say on average about 3 hours to get round once you have started

It's actually both. He originally named it a Flaming Homer but then re-named it a Flaming Moe when he saw he could make money out of it. He called it the FM to cut Homer out of the profits. I suspect you are right in the bar at Universal, I mixed them up. I am suitably chatised although with a decent out clause.

Sorry dude, i am a simpsons geek and was attempting humour! ;)

Ha ha. Sorry. It seemed a straight up reasonable correction to me, your point was fair. The Simpsons section in Universal was great. I took more pictures there than anywhere else. Me plus Chief Wiggum, me plus Barney, me plus Duff Man, me in Moe's bar etc. An essential visit for any Simpsons fan.

Thanks for the responses chaps. Maybe just the 9 holes then!!

The tour is not for me. Call me a surly old git but I would rather chew my own hand off.

Apparently I am a muggle.........

To be honest the tour is really interesting with as much about film making as it is about harry potter, you dont need to be a harry potter geek to enjoy it.

I was there a few weeks ago and the wife was taking the daughter to see some street performance in Universal for 20 mins. So I just said to my wife 'I'm just off to Moe's for a Duff'. I know it is sad, but it was one of the best things I have ever had the chance to say.

So when I got in the I sat at the bar, ordered a Duff (no non alcoholic Flaming Moe for me) and just sat there on my own at the bar for 15 minutes just grinning away to myself. I must have looked a bit simple, but I am not ashamed to say I got a bit emotional. Worth the price of the holiday alone just to say those words.

One of my proudest moments....

HK - I think there are lots of blokes, me included, who spend most of the time in The Simpsons / Universal, Disney as well to be honest, grinning like simpletons. The park was full of blokes wandering around aimlessly with stupid grins on their faces. You can't get across to people who have not been how much fun those parks are.

It was a toss up for me between a Duff and a Flaming Moe/Homer but as I was driving I went for the Moe. When we go back again I will have that same thrill and ask for a Duff.
