Thanks to an increase in parcels being sent thanks to internet shopping/ebay etc and the increase in parcel charges, the humble Post Office can now boast an increase in profits from £152m last year to £403m this year. (£1.1m profit per day)

Cant wait to see what bonus's the bosses will get for making us all pay more for their service.

It is rather disgusting that a national required service is taken advantage of, I understand if it all goes back into the maintenance and improvement of the infrastructure but we all know that isn't going to happen. What will happen is bonus parties and a lot of back slapping for great ingenuity....

I for one am glad they put the prices up,it has shown me how bad the service really is.I won't be using them ever again for parcels.tnt, ups, myhermes are far superior and have tracking as standard.I hope they enjoy the profit because it is going to be very short lived when people get sick of the prices and start using someone else.

and the closure of 2,500 post offices

That were not viable businesses, ok "old Joan" now has to get a bus to get her pension and buys some stamps, that's life. the post office should not keep loss making sites open, why would they?
