Was out today in quite windy conditions (20-30mph gusty winds) and had lasshed down this morning first thing.
Got off to one of the better starts Ive had recently with a couple of pars.
Anyway, shot 72 (46 points) with an 8 on the card and had 3 x 2's.
By my reckoning that gets me 3 shots off the handicap 9.7 to 6.7, depending on css, anyone care to correct me?) , not sure how the 8 affects things.
Funny how Ive been chasing any sort of a cut for about two years now and while I got the odd 0.6 etc this is the first proper cut and gets me almost back down to where I started 4 years ago when I joined with a 6 handicap.
3 2's and a cut make it very worthwhile nevermind if I have won anything else.
Another card for the scrapbook methinks.

Well done Brendy. I'm guessing you romped the comp anyway but what could have been with that 8. I played a medal this morning and only needed a bogey 5 down 9 to go out bang on my handicap without striking the ball well and having had a double at 6. Cue a horrid drive and a hooked shot out of a bunker into trouble for a drop and an 8 to finish. Unlike you I didn't have all those 2's and 3's to compensate.

Well done sir

Dunno, still guys out and its over Friday and saturday so Ive no idea who scored what yesterday and today but I know it was bloody tough.
The 8 came about from a 5 wood off the tee for safety, pushed into the tree on the inside of a dogleg, clipped out to take my medicine then thinned a 7 iron back into the last tree along the dogleg which 99/100 I wouldnt have been near. Strangely the 8 was sandwiched between two 2's in a tricky wind.
It was certainly the first time Ive ever been in a situation where all three of us playing together had a 2 all on the same hole, from various distances too, 35 feet, 12 feet (mine) and 6 feet. The guy that had the putt from 6 feet was the highest handicap and was bricking it after watching the first two putts roll in! haha.

Brendy you shot 46 points off 10. So that's 10 x 0.2. However your 8 on the 13th will be cut down to a nett double bogey and considering you get a shot on it that will be made into a 7 for handicap purposes. So therefore that makes it 2.2 cut. But this depends on what your standard scratch is and whether it came down or by how many. Either way it will be a significant cut. I would have imagined you will be cut down to 8. Hope this helps. :)

Unreal. That is simply amazing. Extraordinarily well done.

I wouldn't want to have to work out what to cut you on that - I mean; where do you start? Just too good.

:) :)

Quite right, where did I get 0.3 increments from?
Still, looks more and more like getting back down to 7 is looking a possibility, ultimately Id love to get back down to 6.

There would have been a time when you'd get your 2.2 or (whatever) and then another shot or two under general play.
Ignoring the 8, that was basically a gross level round. To leave you on 7.5 (if that's the number) would seem unsatisfactory given what you "can" play too, according to that card. :)

Like I said, tremendous.

Purely a lack of practice Dave, having three kids and a demanding wife, I just cant give too much time to my golf bar saturdays and the very occasional hour or two once every month or two through the summer months.
Dont get me wrong,As long as I lack practice I'll never complain about my handicap, cant help feeling disappointed some weeks when a good drive leads to bad scoring though.

Well done Brendy.....Savage score mate......
I can relate to the above minus i child i have 2 and a not so demanding other half but i struggle also at times to get in some practice...Depends on the mood and the weather alot too.....
When i played football i had to train every tuesday and thursday nights but i find it hard to fit the golf in this way too....now i have a choice whereas with the footie i had to train......Still im only playing golf 9 months and iv had 2 cuts already so im not doing too bad i suppose.....

Anyway mate great shooting again and keep at it... ;)
