Do you have a CONGU handicap? You'll need one to play in comps - unless you're talking about society comps.

A CONGU handicap means you have joined a golf club (which must be affilaited to the National Golf Union - English Golf Union, Scottish Golf Union etc.) and completed the club's process for awarding a handicap. Once you have your handicap, you can play in club competitions. Society golf does not necessarily require a CONGU handicap although some do - most of them have their own handicapping systems which apply only to their society.

By Captain's Day, I assume you're talking about a Club Captain - or maybe it's a society Captain.
If it's a Club Captain's Day, I would say you will definitely need a CONGU handicap.
