Does anyone have any tips or drills regarding getting your hands before the club at impact?

You hold the grip, that's the part you should be swinging, don't try to get the head of the club down to the ball (you don't swing that end) - it'll get there if you swing the grip thru properly.

1) Make sure you are not trying to scoop the ball upwards

2) Make sure you are not casting the club or flipping the club face closed, either of these sound familiar?
