Just as an idle thought, how does the + handicap work.....where do they they give back their shots.

Is it Stroke index 1,2,3 etc or from the highest SI holes, 18, 17 16 etc?

So that means if a plus 1 handicapper was playing say a 3 handicapper would the 3 guy get 2 shots on SI 1, or is the plus bit added to the opponents handicap or what? So a +1 playing a 3 handicap gets 4 shots:confused:

Then what about on straight medal play?

In match play strokes are given on SI 1, 2, 3 etc. It's the difference in handicaps that counts.

In a Stableford they need a birdie on SI 18, 17, 16 etc. for 2 points.

I think!

Shots are given on the highest SI so a +1 would have to birdie SI 18 to get 2 points in a stableford

In a match, the shots are worked out the same as you would normally. I.e. +1 playing 3 would be 4 shots taken on SI 1 to 4

In a medal, if a +2 shot 67 gross it would be 69 Nett

Sorry, don't understand this? Why wouldn't a +4 play off +3 in a 3/4 handicap comp? Maybe I'm missing something...

Whereas normal handicaps are reduced and the player has to score better, the plus handicapper gains.

eg a 12 handicap would have to score +12 on full handicap to be level net and off 3/4 they'd have to score +9 to be level net.

The +4 handicapper would have to score -4 to be level net on full handicap but -3 to be level net off 3/4.
