Hello Forumers!

Not sure if this is technically rules but looked like the right place.

I am going to be joining a new course in Bristol and haven't played in a comp at my old course for the past year. I am thinking I would rather submit 3 cards. As opposed to taking my old handicap, reasons for this are that the new course i assume will be quite a lot easier than my old course. So I would like my chap to be a true reflection of the course I intend to join.

What are the rules on this?

I would say that you have to start off with your current handicap, regardless of how easy/hard the new course is in relation to your old course.

Don't know about definitely, just thought it was the done thing to stop banditry. (Not suggesting that you are trying to do this by the way).

Someone that I used to play a lot of golf with (off 7) moved club up country and somehow managed to get a new handicap of 15!

So you have to definitely? So I can't submit 3 cards?

Your case - a Cat 1 player - is different to most. It needs to be referred to the Area Authority before you can regain it!

If the handicap is to be restored within 6 months of loss/suspension, then previous handicap applies.

You will play qualifies off your old handicap and then get the relevant cuts or .1's until it's fully active again after 3 rounds

Not sure what the correct rule is but you are required to advise them off your last handicap and I am sure if you were playing off scratch then that's what you will be at your new course.

What are the rules on this?

1. If you are currently a member of a club and join within 6 months of leaving it, your handicap transfers as is - regardless of the category.
2. If you do not currently have a (c) handicap (and based on the information you have given it's possible that you do, but you may not) then you will have to submit 3 cards to regain (c) status, with normal adjustments applying during this process.

There is no scope or flexibility available in this process.

If there is a gap of 12 months between clubs you will have to put in cards for at least 54 holes (as specified by your new club). Allocation of Cat 1 has to be approved by the county. The county will normally require the cards to be for 18 hole rounds rather than 9 hole.

He doesn't, but the wily Fox made the inference from the username, I guess.

I'm going to change my username to +4

Yes he does - or at least that he did 18 months ago!

Hi Guys,

New to the forum, but not to golf, I have just posted my hello, coming back to golf after a year and half break, I was playing off scratch and am looking to get back to something similar. I am completely rebuilding the bag and will definitely be getting fitted.
