Handicap without a Club

Hi,

I've recently started to get back into the game and I want to take a serious run at it. I'm not ready to join a club yet, but I do want to get a handicap.

Someone said about a website called Strokes, but there is no where to register, just a login form. Anyway able to shed some light on my predicament?

Without a club there is no method to get an official handicap. Any website offering one is doing nothing more than printing a number on a piece of paper (assuming you even get one)

So I guess I need to join a club. I'm using the Nike app to track my rounds, and it does a pretty good job of tracking my progress. I suppose at this early stage in my quest to win the Masters its good enough.

Join a club at a municipal course.
Good cheap way to start, many golfers start that way.
You can also join an affiliated golf society, check them out at your County Golf Union website.

In the mean time you can try golf shake they will give you an unofficial handicap,does the Nike app not give you a handicap option? I use golfshot for stats and there is a handicap tracker option on it.

It's just another score tracking website which will award you an unofficial handicap based on anything you tell them.

The Nike app lets you add a handicap in your profile, but that's about it.

A good municipal should give you everything you need to start out. Access to a course, regular comps and a proper handicap

Well I may well be moving to Canada in the new year so going to put on hold any membership joining.
