Just found out my life is over as from the 10th june next year. I was wondering if you folk with children can say how much of an impact your first child had on your golf and handicap. is it back to hacking the course to bits or did you manage to stay on your game?

Has your missus only just told you when she is 2 months pregnant ?!

And having a child means your life is changing not over.

My handicap stayed the same I have a 3 half year old girl and a 18 month girl. I still managed to play but only played 8 comps last year and 10 the year before. Probably play once every 12 days but go up the local range inbeteen that. Enjoy your baby and you will enjoy your golf more when you do manage to play

I managed about 3 or 4 rounds over a 10 year period. Don't regret it for even a nanosecond.

I have 3 ankle biters and my wife is pregnant with our 4th. I am lucky to play once a month on weekends, lucky with work i can play corporate golf a bit..

My dreams of Cat1 and then onto the tour are over! LOL

Congrats by the way!!

3 months.
If I cant golf of go fishing, my life is over :(

Yes sorry 3 months ! Why didn't she tell you or has she just found out.

Having your own child beats any game of golf

Firstly congrats are in order.

On your question Depends on how much practice you put in to maintain your playing level, the biggest issue i find is time management, suing to get the balance between out on the course and spending time with wife and little one. I play selected comps but get out early in summer for bounce games on my own so back home by 10 to spend test of day as family time.

I have 3 kids, just fit golf in where can. early morming games work well for me and the odd twilite.

Congratulations man

My daughter was born in May (2011) and I found that early morning golf was the best way to scratch the itch in the early stages. To be honest, for the first 18 months, I didn't play as much as I'd like, but I managed to get the h/c down from 14 at the time she was born to 8 at the end of the season just finished (no winter qualifiers at our place). However, my son was born 6 weeks ago and I haven't even sniffed a golf club since then. If I can play a dozen comps and keep my h/c where it is next season, I'll consider that a big success.

But I wouldn't care if my h/c had gone up since 2011. Having kids is easily the smartest and most rewarding thing I've ever done. Your life isn't going to be over, it's about to get a whole lot better.

She's been In Jamaica for the last 4 months and wanted to tell me face to face
Post of the year...

Congratulations and enjoy the golf whilst you can, I had 5 years off playing 3 times a year. I am more than making up for it now

A lady I knew when she had her daughter would take her down to the practice area with her, if it's good for the gander should be good for the goose.
