Afternoon all.

Rather surprisingly, I've just received an e-mail from HDID advising that my handicap has been reduced from 20.7 to 19.7!! :D
I have moved clubs as of mid November last year and haven't played in any qualifying comps at my new place, so I'm assuming that my old club have reduced my handicap as a result of my overall play during the course of last season.
When I joined my new club, I asked my old club to e-mail them to confirm that they would be taking over the administration of my handicap, as my home club. I got an e-mail from my old club confirming that this had been done.
Just checked the HDID Website and sure enough, my old club was still listed as my home club and the new reduced handicap was showing. I've manually changed my home club on the site and it has found me at my new club, but at a handicap of 20.7.
How can I ensure that my new club use my new handicap? Is it just a case of forwarding the e-mail I got from HDID to the handicap secretary?

Fingers crossed!

I do know its your responsibility to play under your new reduced handicap, at our club a sheet regulary gets printed out with everyones handicaps on and i know it sometimes takes time for away results and handicaps to come through so he may not have noticed.

Something's not quite right. Since changing my details on HDID to show my new club as my home club, I've received a further e-mail stating that my handicap has gone UP from 19.7 to 20.7! There's been a cock-up somewhere in the lines of communication. :(

I suspect, given the exact one shot reduction, that this is what has happened:

Your old club has transferred your handicap to your new club but has neglected to inform their handicap committee that you are no longer a member.
Your old club has run the Annual Review on its handicapping software and you have come up as a possible candidate for reduction based on your year on year performance. They have then posted a reduction on HDID.
Unfortunately, your old club cannot do this which is probably why, having realised this, this has been reversed on HDID.
It may well be that your new club, having been made aware of the Annual Review info from your old club, will make a General Play reduction. It would be nice for you and a sensible solution - I would be inclined to push it if they don't.

Brooksey - it is not the player's responsibility to play with the handicap stated on HDID. Only the handicap list displayed at the club is the official handicap list.

Surely it's no different to him playing an away comp and playing under handicap at that course. It that position (with no official results available) the player would calculate his new handicap (based on SSS if no CSS yet exists) and play future comps to this handicap, whilst waiting for the proper handicap change to be made.

I should state that I'm still technically a member at my old club until such time as my annual membership expires at the end of February. I've not long had an e-mail from the handicap secretary at my 'old' club, advising of a reduction under Clause 23.

What you say about cutting yourself is correct , i think what Roescott was on about is say you havent played away or played below your handicap .. HDID has you listed for one handicap & the club has you listed a different one , the club one is the only official one.. does that make scence ?

I see, yes that makes sense, I guess in this case the change has occurred for a reason, rather than just a glitch in the HDID system (after all HDID is a reactive service in every respect apart from annual review) ... To be honest I would of thought your club would contact you BEFORE changing the handicap.
