Can anyone confirm whether my handicap will still stand from last year?

I was a member at my home club last year and played loads putting well over the mandatory 3 competition cards......

I never renewed my membership until now so will it still stand or do I need to submit 3 cards again?

6 months is the cut-off.

If less, then previous handicap is restored.
If more, then 3 cards, allocation but previous handicap taken into account.

Congu Clause 26 - though not exactly definitively worded for where greater than 6 months

Speak to the club direct would be my approach. You'll get the definitive answer that way ;) Good to see you're back on the course after your recent 'event'

So I should be ok then as the 6 month mark would be the 1st of August
I joined technically on the 1st of July so had to pay for 7months.

All going to depend......

I'm reading your posts to say you didn't renew on 1.2.13 in which case it should all be fine - handicap restored at previous level with authority from Area Authority as it's within 6 months.

However, if you left wef 31.12.12 then 1.7.13 is not technically 'within 6 months'

Your Area Authority is going to have to be involved in the allocation/restoration anyway so you will find out in due course.

I won't know for sure until Monday night when I see the handicap secretary.

I think my club runs their year from the end of January for fees etc so not sure if this effects which point it becomes 6 months.

Yeah you can't be given a cat 1 without further involvement but that's if I need to put 3 cards in and to be fair I ain't playing to 5 so chances of 3 cards being roughly 5 over is a far cry.id expect a fair handicap to be in and around 7-9 or maybe even 10.

I'll know for sure on Monday,I'm fairly confident my handicap will still stand as it hasn't been long enough for it to lapse but tbh I'm not fussed.......

I played some more tonight and the wrist feels so much better,I'll see how it goes on Monday night.im hoping to shoot no worse than 13 over,I'd be happy with that.

if you are outside the 6 months I would expect an initial allocation of 5.5 regardless of any cards you put in!

6 months and a day out isn't an established route to gain an handicap increase.
