My mate hardly ever breaks 100. He's done it once with 98 but most times he's around 104-110. Does this mean his handicap is 28?
His last 3 rounds were 105, 108, 108

When we play stapleford we let him play off 28 an he does pretty good. I said he should be off 25 but he won't have it.

Easy way to solve queries is upload scores into an online tracker/pc software and keep your own unofficial handicaps?

I'm not sure mate I only use golfshot for my stats as the club deals with my ever increasing handicap! :lol:

Whats he scoring with stableford format. That should be a good indication as its basically the format used to adjust stroke scores for handicapping purposes.

Not got the cards but on Stableford ( thanks Hawkeye ) with me he has had 32, 34 , 38 he gets a few scratches most times but gets a few 3 pointers.

His scoring average is 2 shots worse than his 28 handicap from those 3 rounds. It's not far off being right imo.

He sounds like a good 28 if such a thing existed. Most 28's wouldnt get 30 plus points consistently.

unofficial handicaps are very easy to work out, either manually or via an online tracker or something. Today's golfer offers a free tracker, which is quite good. Just input a few of his cards into that and it will give you an answer.
He has to remember though that your handicap isn't about his average score, but more to do with his potential. The fact he shot a round with 38 points suggests to me he is actually better than 28.
