Handicap query

My handicap lapsed so our club rules are that I need to submit 3 supplementary cards. So far I have submitted 2, last week I got an e mail from English golf so thought I would google in to see what my status was, it stated my hcap was live at 13.8 and had been updated last Thursday. I went to my club to check if my hcap certificate was there no and tried to log in on the system but it wouldn't recognise me (which happens if you hcap is not valid) so a bit confused do I have a valid hcap or not ?

Is your club English?

If yes, what do you mean by lapsed (has your membership been continuous)?

Has your club told you to submit Supplementaries because your handicap is inactive? If that is the case, you still have your handicap, albeit inactive.

I don't think club rules are involved, except in respect of possible competition restrictions on inactive handicaps

I think I might have not explained properly Yes it was inactive so I had to submit 3 cards .. But my hcap on English golf has been updated so would that mean my hcap is now active ?

Your handicap will appear on England Golf handicap database whether it is active or inactive. If it's active it will have a "c" after it, if it's inactive it won't have the "c". I suspect it has been updated because your club has routinely updated its club records to the handicap database and this will include your two Supplementaries.

I'm not quite sure how england golf website works as my nephew is showing active but no home club as he didn't renew membership this week as he's off to uni.

The club, as is often the case, might have neglected to remove him from the handicap list - I get it all the time when a new member comes straight from another club.
