Played the first round of a two-round competition at my place today, starting out on 18.8 (19 exact) and shot a nett 67, which could have been better but for dunking one in the pond at 16, and then 3-putting the last. :(

Good enough for fifth overall after the first round, and only one off the lead. :swing:

Anyway, estimated CSS is 69 but we were one of the last groups out, so its pretty certain to close at 69 so a 0.6 cut coming my way, and down to 18.2/18.

Question, which I'll clarify tomorrow, but will also ask here... do I need to cut myself ahead of tomorrow's second round, or will I still be able to play off 19 due to the two-day nature of the competition?

Will be dependant on conditions of competition, can go either way. If you don't find out beforehand check before returning your card.
Well played today.

At my place we just enter the scores into the computer and it applies the correct h/c. So unless you played an away comp in between your rounds the computer will know your h/c. Good shooting BTW keep it up :thup:.

Clubs have the option to use the handicap at the start of the 36-hole competition for both rounds or adjust between rounds. This should be laid down as a condition of the competition - you must check.

2-Day/Round comps are generally played off the same starting handicap for both.

But you should definitely check!

As has been said, the handicap for 2 day comps is usually the starting handicap for both rounds although I have known it to be recalculated between rounds so checking is a must.

FYI. If it is the starting handicap for both rounds that is for competition purposes only. The handicaps are per round so for handicap purposes, assuming CSS was 69 yesterday, you will be calculated for todays round off of 18.

For example, if Par=SSS=CSS=69 for both rounds of a comp and you started off of 18.8;

If you shoot Gross 86 for round 1 that would be nett 67 for both comp and handicap purposes
If you then shoot Gross 86 again in round two, that would be nett 67 for the comp but nett 68 for handicap since the h'caps are processed sequentially.

Hope that makes sense?
