As the title says my handicap from the weekend comp has gone up 0.3 in one go.
I thought you could only get 0.1 back at a time, can anyone explain?

On a totally unrelated note, how bad exactly was the round? Did you hear anyone refer to it as "Scouser-esque"?

Wow. It's amazing what one little trophy can do to people confidence lol.

26 points, but my playing partner does have a habit of making a round an emotional rollercoaster. On the 12th him sunk a 12 foot putt for par and from his reaction you would have thought he had just got an ace or won the bloody masters. On the 15th over the water he duffed his tee shot into the water and proceeded to yell profanities at the top of his voice like he had just thrown away a match for a million quid.

I play with him to try and get used to it so it doesn't affect me when I get people like that in matches (mind you I haven't found one yet) or I get drawn to play against him in a matchplay comp. I'm not quiet there yet but I will work out how to play without it affecting me too badly.

Looking at HDID for you club, it doesn't look like they have posted any comp results since March. My guess would be rather than post the comp results, they have just posted the accumulated h'cap adjustments. Not very good from your club if that is the case

Not sure it's the new verb from the NWOOM, my guess it's not you've been scousered, but some old results had been updated and they've just caught up in one go.

HDID isn't the definitive source of your handicap details. That is your handicap as held t the club - and published on the board after each comp. HDID is merely a convenient way to distribute that info. There are quite a few ways in which that distribution can go wrong.

Check your handicap history on HDID to make sure all the comps you have played in have been properly recorded and the handicap movements tally with what you expect. That should highlight any anomoly, either by you or the club/system. I can think of a number of scenarios where this can happen. Are you expecting to be 18.3 but HDID is showing 18.5?

The problem is with HDID not the club. They have been posting the results but they have not been appearing on HDID and we are not the only club to have had this problem.
Due to being on holiday at the end of march/beginning of April I am only missing one comp result on HDID and in easily hit the buffer on it with 1 over par gross coming in second place so there shouldn't be a rise from that result anyway.

That's exactly what I was expecting to get.

if that's the case when did you go from the 20.9 (after the Feb comp) to 18.4 as you are shown going up to 18.5 in the March comp then?

Not a HDID signee, though used to be responsible for club comps, so know a bit about it's quirks.

Seems like there are a number of comps that are 'missing' - the last 2 and the one(s) where you went from 20.9 to 18.2. I believe you have incorrectly assumed the latest value of your handicap is as a result from latest comp. I believe it's from the latest one on there - which is 2 of your comps before that - missing the drop to 18.2 and the +0.1 to 18.3.

As stated before, check your Playing/Handicap/Competition History (forgotten their term). That should show you which ones are missing and the one from 20.9 to 18.4 certainly seem to be - symptomatic, but not absolutely relevant to this issue.

It may simply be a case of your club having to re-publish (hopefully without notifying those with changed handicaps) the results or in the case of the last couple, simply publishing them in the first place.

There is a slightly more sinister possibility (multiple users over-writing details on the Club computer), but I very much doubt if that is the case.

Best idea is to contact the club (handicap secretary) and find out what the issue is.
