Hi All. We are looking to do a research piece about Golf handicaps across the country. Do any of you know about a central database with this information? The more granular the data is the better. i.e we would love to get hold of data that goes down to player level. Something along the line of:

player1, Sex, Club, Location Average Handicap.

Does anyone know where we can get hold of such data? We tried CDH but the software does not allow to export the data as a whole. We don't need the names of the players, just the raw data.

Any hell be very much appreciated.

Regards,
Shai

Thanks. Sent them an email to see what they say. Any other suggestions? Is there nowhere we can download this data from? Does not really matter if its a year or two old.

You'll doubtless know that data often has a financial value so finding it readily downloadable if someone else has spent the time/money & effort gathering it is perhaps overly optimistic

Depending on the use you have for it & whether you have a budget to purchase, I could only suggest approaching the various handicap tracker software companies which I guess you may have done already

Thanks Slab. Yes, we do have a budget for this so we don't expect it for free (although free is always nice). We have contacted a couple of places with a pitiful reply rate. Will keep trying.

Given that there's a potential for ''conflict of interests' for a journalism organisation posting on a 'jounalism' site's forum, I'd suggest you clear this request with the bosses at GM HQ - MikeH is the user to PM/Email!

He may also be a good source for an answer, though I actually suspect there won't be one that is freely available! CDH would be the obvious source for me, but I believe they have a pretty firm 'no distribution of any data' policy! And, I believe, distribution for commercial use (even if de-personalised and out of date) would be pretty much beyond the pale

Fully understand where you are coming from. I think its safe to close this thread now anyway. It has merely confirmed what I initially thought anyway after extensive searching the topic previously.

By the way, GM would have been one of the first publications we would have approached anyway. :)

Thanks all for your input.
