Just had an email from the handicap secretary at the club...apparently receiving the email means that my handicap has been "reviewed" in an end of year review meeting.

outcome? I've had my handicap reduced down to 23, the lowest I've ever been :-) Didn't quite make my aim of getting down to 21, but still really pleased with where I've made it to :-)

Thanks all :-)

No real reason given, but I've had a good year in terms of winning comps (3 wins and 1 second) so I assume that's the reason.

It's worked out on your average score over all qualifiers, amount of times you hit buffer etc a fairly compliacated formula. But computer obviously said yes to you! :)

That would make sense, as although I've never shot below handicap in competition this year, I have been in buffer in every comp I've played in except one.

Sorry yes, Par on the course is 69 and the CSS (I think) is 70. So playing to handicap means I'm one under CSS hence the handicap reductions through the season.

Playing to handicap means level SSS which in your case sounds one over par, CSS can vary from one comp to the next as its an indication of acting condition on a given day.

Your course website shows the course as par 69, SSS 69. Strangely though HDID shows a recent competition as having a CSS of 73 which is not possible with a SSS of 69.

I've no idea in all honesty, all I know is I've been getting regular cuts shooting no better than handicap (ie to 69 net)
