Could someone tell me if the following is correct please, I've tried to find the answer on the CONGU website but have been unsuccessful.

in a medal comp, CSS was 72, I shot a net 70 so got cut 0.6 shots.

i had 2 triple bogeys on my card. I thought that these would be rounded down to double bogeys for handicap calculations, effectively taking another 2 shots off my score, so giving me a cut of 1.2 shots.

however, my new handicap has been calculated without this adjustment.

Have I imagined the triple/double adjustment (I'm sure I've read it somewhere), or just misunderstood it?

thanks in advance

scores worse than a nett double bogey are adjusted down to nett double bogeys for handicap purposes - so, you must have received a stroke on each hole. if you'd scored a triple bogey on the stroke index 18, for example, you would have been chopped an extra 0.3 in this case.

Scores get rounded to NET double bogeys so if you got a triple on a hole but, according to SI, would receive a shot on that hole then you did score a net double so no rounding occurs.

Sounds like your handicap adjustment is probably correct.

I'm in a similar situation kinda. Shot net 72 on Saturday (CSS 71) but with two 7's and a 10 on the card. I've worked out that if the 10 is rounded down to a double I'd be 3 shots better off and 2 under handicap. No one I spoke to about it seems sure if I'll get a little cut or not. I also scored 37 points which as far as I can gather merits a cut.

A few questions...

Was it a medal or stableford?
What par and SI is the hole you scored a 10 on?
What are Par and SSS for your course?

Doesn't matter if medal or stableford as scores are worked out the same anyway
Par and SSS mean nothing in comps, CSS is what handicaps are based

If the OP can tell us the SI of the holes you had the 7's and 10's at we can deduce from there but I'd be certain you'll get a minimum of a 0.4 cut but a chance to get 1.6 depending on the SI of the holes

I know how it's worked out thanks but in this case it does matter as if it was stableford, he has already told us he scored 37 points so the Par\SI of the high score holes is irrelevant.

You seem to be saying that it was a stableford competition in which you scored 37 points. If so, that is what any handicap adjustment will be based on - your medal score is irrelevant. If CSS was 71 and, say, par was 72, then 37 points is playing exactly to handicap. I'm not sure the maths add up if par was 72.

Sorry mate, no it was a medal comp, just worked out my Stableford score afterwards as I was told it's how they make handicap adjustments.

I agree we need to know par and SI of the holes but for handicap purposes it doesn't matter whether he played medal or stableford and if I'm wrong in that then can someone please explain why.

In that case we need the answers to questions 2&3 in post 7

From other posts I reckon his course is Chester-le-Street which, according to EGU Golf Central is par 71, SSS 71. If Beezerk has worked out his 37 points correctly, he is due a little cut.
