Im currently off 19.5 at the moment but as a result of none handicap qualifying on club comps all winter my handicap has stayed the same even though I'm playing well under it. Today I had a knock with my usual playing partners and shot a 81 (10 over par) so 10 shots under my handicap so I acctually put the card in to get a handicap change how much will I come down by putting this card in?or does it vary from club to club ??i got my first comp of the summer season tomorrow which is stablford so hopfully tomorrow on I'll start getting it down in competion play but it all helps so put the card in start as you mean to go on sort of speak .

I'm guessing you put it in as a supplementary card and signed the book beforehand ?

What is the difference between SSS and Par on the tee you played from ?

If it's the same and you fulfill the supplementary criteria then it could be a 3 shot cut

Unless you declared the round as a Supplementary one before you went out, your handicap will likely not change at all!

It's only affected by Qualifying Competitions and Supplementary - except in extremely rare circumstances - or if the initial assessment was found to be significantly wrong.

No I didn't but Somone in the club after said put the card in ect
It won't go towards any HC change right now but the HC committee can keep it and use it for evidence during an Annual Review.

and of course you werent playing gimmees with your mates were you ,so you putted out on every hole.

just saying as you really dont want a h/cap cut for just a knockabout with your mates ,save it for winning something ,get called a bandit and tell everyone that you played rubbish and could have been a lot better.

Great that you're scoring much better than your handicap suggests. I would highly recommend getting a couple of supplementary cards put in ASAP. Ask your handicap secretary for the procedures.

Hoping you get a cut, but I doubt it if you didn't declare it upfront and sign the book but fantastic shooting. Just go out and repeat it in the comp
I hope I can repeat it in a comp ha.all the practice I been putting in with my short game and course management ect is finally paying off so feeling good about my golf at the moment there is light at the end of the tunnel

I know this is what is supposed to happen, but our club let's you put in supplementary cards without such a declaration

Then your club are incorrectly following Congu regulations and any such card must be removed

This thread is very similar to the one i wrote about a month ago when i went round in 84 last month. I wrote that for one day only "i was the man".
Today you are the man. Cannot see that you will get cut though same as i did not.
So where does that leave you/me/us. Well positives positives positives. I was told by countless members on here, some of which posted on my thread that "you can do it". Now do it on a comp. honestly it felt a bit like bad luck tash never mind. But i did do it again and they were right i can do it again. But enough bout me what about you.
Two things spring to mind.
1, short game practice IS PAYING OFF.
2 course management IS PAYING OFF.

Good luck for rest of the season.

I know its wrong but when it goes towards a handicap cut whats the worst outcome? He gets a lower handicap and makes it harder for him to win a comp.

The worst outcome is a HC that isn't reflective of someone's ability under the comp conditions.

It's a simple congu guideline that everyone must follow
