Dear all, Im sure this has been asked before so sorry for being repetitive. I travel a lot, and have lived in Thailand and currently Hong Kong. As such, Im not going to join a golf club. this leaves me with a problem that I cant get a handicap cert to allow me to play at a lot of places. I see a lot of adverts on the internet for certificates but Im sure they are all just a guy with a printer - is it possible that I can get an "official" handicap from somewhere as I do have about 30 cards I could put in from courses in the UK and Thailand over the last year. Thanks.

Not sure if the english golf union still do them you would have to look on their website.

You will not get an official handicap unless you join a club,

However there are lots of Society's who are afilliated to the english golf union who's members have "recognised" handicaps that golf clubs will accept.

And yes it's a bloke with a printer.

the bain of the nomadic golfer!!! I have the same problem as I am not a member of a club and play abroad a few times a year and so some courses wont entertain, though in this current climate most will turn a blind eye and collar the true hackers.

I wouldnt use the internet ones such as "golfshake" as they are not offical CONGU ones which should be the only ones accepted, I did though buy a fake CONGU one on EBay earlies in the year but never used it, I can email you it if you wish to try?
