Played 'skins' last night with a couple of guys who are much lowere handicaps thean me. One insisted that we all play off scratch which seemed a little unjust. Is this the norm and are any rules in force as to whether there should be an adjustment.

We also play a game for 3 players where there is 6 points per hole. If say on a par 4 one has a 4 and 2 others have a 5 the scores are 4,1,1. If 2 have a 4 and one 5 the scoring would be 3 3 0 and if the scores were 4,5,6 the scores would be 4,2,0. Not sure what the game is called where the back marker is always 0.

Should the handicap for this game be full or 3/4

3OTT, I can understand why you feel hard done by not getting strokes however I have always loved 'bare feet' golf because it forces you to raise your game to your opponents level. I play with a guy of 3 and anotheroff 9 and I never look for shots. The flip side is when you play someone higher than yourself and you lower your game to their level.

Keep playing with the guys lower than yourself and your game will improve as will your course management.

Thanks for your comments which I understand. What I am trying to find out is whether there should be a handicap adjustment of 3/4 or whether the rules state everyone plays off scratch

Mate,you were tucked up!!!

Both skins and what we call "American Points" are matchplay and the old 3/4 difference should be in place.

"On the perch" is another good 3 ball game, same as skins but you need to win 2 holes to collect. This means that people are on and off the perch regularly before someone manages to collect. Our record was 16 holes before someone won.
