At the Annual review had my handicap cut again despite playing in 21 Qualifying /None Qualifying Competitions and my handicap increased during the year by 0.6.

This is against CONGU guidlines but when queried I was told I was within my 'buffer zone' on 9 occasions and was and finished in the Top 6 6 times for my category. This is double counting as if I was in the top 6 I SHOULD be within my buffer zone.

Any comments on the present system and flaws would be appreciated

Thats sounds very strange.

how many of the 21 events were qualifying.

I hit the buffer zone 15 times(thereabouts) last year and have went 0.8 last year. I only had one round below SSS. My handicap has not been touched.

The only thing i can think of is that your buffer zone rounds may have a bad finish and they think you are protecting your Handicap. I can't really see any reason to cut you for general play

Nothing to do with either of those old windy.

Stuar D. The last 4 holes are Stoke index 2/4/12/10 which are quite ifficult. Understand your comments but that is not the case.

I thought of you played in qualifying/ none qualifying which were evenly split your handicap hould take care of itself.

Ho to be popular!

21 sounds enough for anyone to cut/increased fairly. You've gone up 0.6 in a year....any cuts in there? if so, don't stand for it.....
I've moved all of 0.1 in 5 months (yes, we DO adjust in the winter on a winter CSS). If I got a general adjustment down, I'd contest it. Nothing wrong with playing close every time out. If you'd sneaked in a few low rounds and not been adjusted, then maybe....???

dunno, sounds fishy....

Sorry DCB Do not know what the hole and hole comps are.

Real Golfer. I have moved from 14.8 to 15.2. However it is the 3rd time in 4 years. Realise the Rules have changed. 4 years ago cut 3 3 years ago cut 2 and this year cut 1.

I am 58 years old. Perhaps the committee do not like me!

OK, I have read the congu details on the website

http://www.congu.com/template1.asp?pid=228

It's a tough read, but if I've got it right, you have been adjusted according to a "new" scheme that looks at the average scoring of players over many, many rounds of golf. Essentialy, it makes the recommendation that if a player is "flagged up" as consistently playing better than others of his/her h'cap the comittee can make a cut. It explains that most players will have returned enough cards for this to not be necessary. It also says that "The report should not be implemented as an automatic process and all information about a player should be considered before any adjustment is applied."

I think you should appeal; if 21 comps isn't enough, what is? (unless they didn't count for h'cap adjustments.)

Quite frankly, I think it sounds outrageous! UNLESS you/me/the player is down on cards. It means you can cut a player who never plays to their h'cap, but is more consistent than the average......what is this???.....silly, silly i.m.o.

What a load of 5h1te that new rule is.

3OffTheTee has hit the buffer zone regularly throughout the season. This shows that his current handicap is correct and should not be changed.

If he is shooting less than others in his section, this shows that their handicaps are wrong and need to go up. That is exactly what is happening as they would be going up by 0.1.

Cutting 3OffTheTee will just give him a false handicap too. I would appeal as well. Done it myself once and got it reversed

Just heard from a reliable source that Club's receive details that they can still adjust if they think it appropiate.

Totally subjective yet again and nothing will be gained with New CONGU Rules. Bit like The Government paying lip service.

What a load of BOLL***S
