Having played the game for 5 years now and managing to get to single figures.....
I've been thinking how I can continue to improve. I thought about changing my driver, using a better quality ball or new wedges but without a doubt the worst part of my game is putting. I've never been custom fitted and all my clubs have been bought second hand apart from my ping zing putter (currently in the shed)

I rang a club builder by the name of Rene Cleaver today and am booked in to go and have a putter built for me. I'm excited!
::clap:

Good stuff twin lakes, I have been thinking about doing the same so please let me know how it goes.

I like your Fish........

Interested in how much something like that costs? How long it takes to be fitted? I would definitely be interested if I needed/wanted a new putter. But to be fair, can you ever have enough putters.... :D

She is very good, based in Cheltenham I believe. I know a guy who had a complete set of clubs fitted by her, very expensive but it seems to have helped him get low.

Would be very interested to read about your experience.

She (Yes! And a PhD as well!) is always my recommendation for a club fitter in that area, though - as I always say - I've not had experience myself. Has been doing Club Fittings and Building longer than anyone I know in the South, so certainly experienced and must be doing something right!

Hope it works out!

Yes I was looking at those thinking they looked rather nice, but first I must wear a hole in my mp 52s or get a contract (which kind of defeats the whole object, working to afford stuff and then not being able to play with it..)

I'll keep the thread updated

The SR2 putters look very nice if going on the brand they offer on the clubmasters page.

That's her,
I'm going solely to source a putter. She was very helpful on the phone and said we'll work through the options. I'll take the 2 I use and she may work from one of those. Lets hope she doesn't suggest turning the belly in to a broom. I've bought all my kit 2nd hand for next to nothing so I'll pay what it takes.

Visited Club Masters earlier... where to start. I've never seen anything like it. It's a laboratory in there. Rene was awesome.
She started by watching me take a few putts with my Ping Zing and immediately pointed out that I was not set up square. Showed me in one of those mirrors you put on the floor. Offered to sell me one. I decided against it.
Next onto the fitting, she took plenty of measurements and got me to try several putters. I've chosen one of the Tom Wishon S2R range with a few tweaks. (Basically more weight) I'm gonna try a couple of fatter grips than the one currently on the ping.
A great experience and she certainly talks some sense.
She thought I was going the right way in continuing to lower the h'cap. The putter is the most used club in the bag.
I got her to quickly check the loft on my 9 iron and PW whilst I was there. Turns out I'm carrying two 9 irons. Those that may know me from another golf forum will be aware that up until recently I didn't bother carrying an 8 or a 9 (Just because)
I am going to have the loft and lie on my 7,8,9 and 54 sorted at a later date. I'm now in the market for a new PW 48 degree if anyone has one gathering dust in the shed.
So to summarise, she was fantastic, no pressure, no hard sell and certainly knows what she's on about. 10/10.
I'll update again when I've used the putter for a few rounds. It's easy to say but I'm confident whatever happens the h,cap will continue to go down.

Seems a good experience!

Those Mirrors can be really helpful, but expensive (even on Ebay). Should be able to find one in a Sale/Car Boot a lot cheaper.
