Just arrived home (10 mins away) - most enjoyable day thanks to the GM Team and course in very good condition.
Congrats to the winners and a special thanks to Marc, Rich and David for their excellent companionship.

Echo that Robin, Excellent day, course was quite tough with a strong wind, tight pin positions fast greens and the white tees.( Who wanted to play off the whites??)

I would like to thank Murph for putting up with me and for being an expert ball spotter.

A good day was had by all, Hanbury is an excellent venue, very plush, it was good to meet Mike and Jeremy and the other forummers taking part

I scored 4 points less than my brother, and he didnt score many :(

Needless to say we wont be going to the Forest of Arden

Big Thanks to Mike and the team for the organisation

Fragger

Huge thanks to Mike, Jezz and the rest of the GM team. Great company, great course, great organisation, shame about the golf.

Managed to drive the par 4 1st, (well a yard to the left of the green) and that was about as good as it got. Couldn't buy a putt for love nor money today. 12 points front 9, 17 back 9. Need to have a serious talk with myself about course management!!

Thanks to my playing partners, Nick, Chris & Simon and congrats to Nick for winning his category to book his place at the Forest of Arden.

Thanks also GM for organising the Srixon/Cleveland tent...some seriously good wedges on offer.

Will post some pics later. Those with an aversion to blue, be warned!!! :D :D

Echo all of the above. Really good day. Really rubbish golf. Windy as though. Nearly lost my hair piece at one point.
Greens were awesome. Sadly, often putting from range for a point.
Cheers to Fragger. It was good fun (at times!).
A bit like Rick, I too need a lesson on course management. If I had half a brain today I could have scored way better, even playing badly.
Cheers to the GM guys.

Still think playing off the whites was the right thing.

I can only echo the comments above re the course and the great organisation. Many thanks to Jezz and the team from GM for their hard work organising everything.

Many thanks to my playing partners, David, Malcolm and Steve for an entertaining round.

The cleveland wedges must be pretty good, the chip on the practice green at the end was the only chip I got anywhere near the hole all day :) :) Many thanks to the man from Srixon/Cleveland for bringing them along for us all to try out.

Are you telling ue rick 29 points was not enough, there must have been some good golfers there mate to beat you :) :)

As above ^

Great day, really enjoyed it. Big thanks to Dean, Stephen and Tom for putting up with my awful touch around the green today, played like a complete bar steward! A nice 21 points.... Great....

Hit some great shots considering it was windy and long so pleased with that... and I wasn't bottom.... Positive to be taken!

Lots of colourful trousers aswell, next time I may wear my pink poulter tartans!

Same as above. Great course. Lots of breeze!.
Many too many 1 point holes and 3 too many blobs. Horrific golf from Yours Truly, although the odd good shot crept in and I putted well on the really slick greens.
Big thanks to Mike and Jezza - another good day out.
Thanks to my group, non of which even knew about the forum so they wont be reading this!
Got trumped by TXL in the chipping contest to cap a miserable day personally.
It was good to meet some Forummers I hadn't met before - Jammy, Rick and Rob2.
Thinking seriously about drowing myself in a bath of beer!!!!

as above the course was in good fettle and I'd like to play it sometime when there is less wind. that though doesn't excuse my poor putting (although it doesn't look as if I was the only one to suffer).

thanks to Mike, Jezz and the GM backstairs team for organising the day.

many thanks to Dave, Malcolm and Anthony (TXL) for an enjoyable round.

As everyone has said, a fantastic day and many thanks to the GM team for putting it all together. Shame I couldn't buy a putt, despite the excellent condition of the greens.

In 3 years of playing golf I've never experienced a course quite like Hanbury, even if the wind at times made it pretty much unplayable for me at least - quite a few of the drives that I actually managed to get away seemed to be heading back towards me by the time they landed :D :p

A big thank you as well to my playing partners Ricky, Glen and Paul, who hits the ball an absolute mile. I know a lot is made of people who exaggerate their length on here, but this guy is exceptionally long off the tee. Would have made mincemeat of the longest drive if he had found the fairway on 17.

Maybe next time I'll score more than 23 points...

Finally back home after a long but very enjoyable day.

Firstly many thanks to the GM guys for putting on a great day and secondly thanks to Dean, Phil and Tom for putting up with me for the 5 hrs+ it turned out to be.

The course was in great condition and a good test of golf, especially when you can't drive the ball at all, but thankfully my putter bailed me out time after time, at least for the first 16 holes. I finally hit 2 great approach shots at the last 2 holes and the putter then let me down (missing from 5 ft and then 3ft) to end on 36 points and frustratingly 1 point short of the winner of my category.

Whereas I seemed to get more of a score than I deserved, the opposite could be said of Dean who definitely played better than the 33 points he returned. Tom was chuffed to beat the personal target he set himself for the day (ended on 31 i think) having holed at least 3 monster putts (Bob will be proud) and Phil hits a lot of shots that tell us all he won't be a 28 handicapper for long, several times he was the longest and straightest off the tee of the four of us.

Shame that with time constraints didn't get time to put a face to some of the other forumites that were there, though it seemed all had a good time.

Well done to all the winners (especially the high handicapper who won the longest drive - bragging rights :) ) and to the 4 off to the Arden enjoy and good luck.

Once again thanks to all involved in organising a great days golf.

OK....those of a nervous disposition....look away now!!

Just got home and would like to echo what everyone else has said:

Great day, lovely course and facilities, many thanks to Golf Monthly, Cleveland/Srixon and the hotel for a memorable event and a top bunch of guys to play with in Rick, Simon and Chris. Plus I had the good fortune to win my group! :D

I didn't think 34 points would be enough but I'm not complaining. Only made possible by two 4 point birdies (to offset at least 3 blobs) and a minor miracle on the par 5 17th, the longest drive hole, where I tried to rip the cover off it but hooked it so badly it went across the adjacent 14th fairway and into the rough behind a tree. The only line I had was to the 14th tees, luckily I pulled the shot off and found the green from there to make par.

Really glad I decided to make the trip down from the Midlands!

Looks like a cracking day out. I played nine holes this afternoon and thank god St Pierre is a long way off. I was shocking. It looks like Viscount17 has finally toned down the trousers (shame). Conditions must have been tricky with the wind etc
