Looks like I seem to have gotten off the wrong side of the bed and pulled a hamstring this morning. Ironically have not done anything physical beyond walking home with the laptop last evening!! Been on an ice pack since the morning and it has improved slightly, but it is likely that I might have to skip going into the office and work remotely.

Might go and see the nurse if things dont improve by the afternoon. Anyone have a hamstring pull for no apparent reason? any idea of recovery time?

Depends how bad the pull is but you could between 3-6 weeks before it starts to repair but be very careful about excersing after that or you'll continue to pull it. I have bad hamstrings from football, used to pull them all the time. Try searching for stretches but ice it (RICE it) first before you do anything else, some physio/sports massage will help too.

nurse? for a pulled hammy? are you serious? no wonder the NHS is screwed!

Ice, rest, elevation and compression.

even if its a grade 2 tear, the above is the only advice you will get, maybe add in a nuforen type gel couple of times a day.

Why do you need to see a nurse ? It's a pulled muscle - ice , rest and anti inflammatory

Have a word with Liverpoolphil or Jp5 from what I remember they are experts on the causes of such muscle problems.

Dont know if it is a strain or a cramp.. how do we find out? Also if it will take a few days, then i need a note from the Drs..

Obviously didn't warm up before getting out of bed.

Top quote of the day...

Note from docs ? Does a hamstring injury stop you working ?

It will not stop me from work (as I have been flat out all morning)... I might have to skip the 75min commute into the office and work from home instead.

I must say that I might be low on clear fluids (or too much coffee and tea from the office vending machine)..

So why do you need a doctors note ?

Unfortunately, havent stepped out of the house... been bound to the phone or laptop all day (the joys of working remotely!!). The pain has not increased or decreased, did an ice pack in the morning, but have stayed away from stretching it too much..

... it makes me believe that this is possibly a cramp rather than a hammy....

A cramp lasting all day ?

Expect it's just a pull

Sounds like a pull. Doesn't sound overly serious
