So having only completed 1 round this summer without blobbing , ive played some pretty awful stuff lately ,alot I put down to lifestyle I work away from home in the week then dash about at the weekend

I decided to have a week off from golf , unfortunately I'm now sat at home bored thinking I've made a mistake !!! Somebody tell me I've done the right thing I really was close to falling out of love with the game which I didn't think was possible

Can sympathise with the 'felt like throwing the clubs in the lake' feeling...last nights practice session on the range was an absolute disaster. Got 50 balls and played in the open area so I could hit balls off the grass. I could count on one hand the number of decent shots I had. I thought to myself, 'get another 50, they can't be as bad', so off I went and got 50 more. Mistake. This time it was worse! Couldn't even hit any chips without thinning them.

As I was walking out of the range I passed by the pro who teaches the group lessons I go to and he asked how it went and I just gave him the thumbs down. I've got a one-on-one lesson with him next Saturday as my swing is a complete mess...reckon I was hitting the ball better when I first picked up the clubs last summer...I've got zero confidence in being able to hit a golf ball right now. I was almost tempted to send the pro a text telling him I'm going to cancel the lesson and forget golf altogether, but I refrained...just!

In a foul mood I went to the putting green and practiced my chipping and putting and fortunately that was far more successful!

There's a guy at work who wants to treat me to a round before I take three weeks off on paternity leave, but at this moment in time I'd be embarrassed to even attempt to play!

Sorry for the rant and thread hijack!

Nope you can never play too much golf. The only to not play is if the course is closed and even then you can go to the range ;)

I'm a bit different, when I'm playing bad it inspires me to work harder. I've had that many lessons now tho I'm fully aware of my faults.

Sorry to hear its not going well. Been having a tough time recently myself but a lesson, some hard yards on the practice ground and a mind clear of thoughts and hitting it without fear and I think I'm turning a corner. Definitely wouldn't consider a weekend off. Too much chance of the wife dragging me to the shops or the DIY stores
