As today is officially the first day of Spring and the season seems about to start in earnest, surely it's a good time to start the annual handicap challenge for H4H. Basically for the new members on here, there's an annual charity day organised by RickG, Richart and a host of others at a course (usually in the South East but many make the trip down from all parts so worth considering.

As part of that, forum members can have a wager with another on who will have the lower handicap on the day of the H4H event and the loser has to make a donation (usually £10 but you can decide the wager between yourselves).

So let the challenges commence.

I'd like to take on ArnoldArmChewer again as he stopped part way through last season and so wasn't really a fair contest (fair play to him for still paying up - top man)

Am starting at 5.8 this year, cant see it ending much lower than that, may go up slightly lol. Welcome to whoever of the regulars whats to enforce me paying a tenner to H4H :)

So are you volunteering to manage all the handicap updates etc this year then Homer, well done.

I'm 9.8 this year if anyone fancies a wager....

Just hold off on this for now guys...we're looking at changing the rules this year as we ended up with 20 forumers not paying their losing bet...that's an additional £200 that we should have made for the charity that we didn't get......various reasons...some guys didn't know if they had lost or not as they couldn't contact their challenger......some losing challengers left the forum......some other simply didn't pay.

We're thinking of changing it to a fiver entry fee for everybody up front ..then the losing challenger pays an additional fiver.....but we haven't made a final decision yet.

Also, we'll be announcing the venue and date for this years HFH this week.....I'm hoping to put the thread up tomorrow....

Homer - I'm like a new man this year, I fully expect to perform like a well oiled machine , so your challenge is accepted, perhaps even a man o man game mid season.

Best

I'm in - I'm off 25, but have set myself the challenge of being off 9 by end of December!

So, if there are Any other lunatics out there with similar ideas, or goals, I'd be happy to pair up.

I wonder where it is?:D
Love this weekend and such a great cause.:whoo:
Saving up the pennies already.

I'm starting the season at 14.1 and hoping to push down below 12 at least, with ambition to drop even further but a poor winter's prep sees me starting on the back foot.

Still a bit of a newbie here so would be interested to know how it works as it sounds like it's a good idea and a bit of fun too.

Assume when the thread goes up there will be an update of how it works for us new types?

It's pretty simple, you pair up with someone whose handicap is as close to yours as possible and then on H4H day, the person with the higher handicap pays £10 to the charity.

It's the annual Help 4 Heroes charity day that the forum supports, usually in October. Open to anyone on the forum to play in

C'mon then Rick, when are you going to reveal golf's best kept secret? ;)

Also, can I suggest you make it £5 to enter the handicap challenge but loser still pays at least a tenner? In the grand scheme of things, it's not a lot more
