I played at Rochdale today in the Manchester and District Ladies Challenge Cup and Lloyd Jones Trophy. The weather wasn't great and the course was very wet. I don't really know the course so local knowledge probably cost me a shot or two as well as 3 putting three times, all long ones though and on saturated greens so not too bad.
Most annoyingly I chipped on the last to 18 inches and then missed the putt however I finished with a 12 over 83 for a net 72.
The leading score was a stunning gross 78 off 15 for a nett 63 but I was lying 3rd nett and 1st for the gross cup, after ignoring the 78 the nett trophy being the main one, until the last group of 3 came in, one of them had a gross 82 and another a nett 71. So I narrowly missed out on both.
It wouldn't have been so bad if that short putt had been on the first but to do it on the last is so annoying.

Im with you there.

Last year I needed a bogey on 18 to win my society division I'm in. Hole high in 2, duff chip, duff chip, chip to a foot, putt.

I then knew how jvv felt in the open all them years ago 👎

It's a nice feeling, I remember looking up and seeing my name at the top during the club champs, eventually dropped to 30 something.

The closest we all get to winning something is just before our first tee shot, anyone can win it from there!

Drama ... But you'd rather be golfing than doing something else! 😉

I always think my fellow competitors would also have tales about missed short putts etc so in the end the scores reflect who played best on the day...

Well seeing as how I have started a blog" why golf is so frustrating". Yup can totally agree with you. I am assured though that because you are playing well the scores and trophies will come 😳.

That aside the victory drink when it comes will taste all the sweeter. Well done me duck.

Absolutely right Amanda and I do tend to think the same myself, it just makes it so frustrating when it is on the last green though.

Just not good enough on the day.

no one ever talks about the shots the got away with & we all have them but they like to moan about the shots they left out there.......

Not just about that though is it, your PP got one bounce, you didn't. Fine margins when there is only one shot in it.
