Just got a call from my club.

There's a Hertfordshire Golf Union club comp on the 1st Oct that each club can send one representative.They must be either top of the Order Of Merit or the most consistent golfer at the club.

As I've been at the top of the OOM for the past few months and my handicap has been in free fall so they asked if I would represent them. I feel so honored that they've asked.

BUT, I'm away on holiday. ARGH



I'm chuffed to bits to have been asked as it's a real endorsement of all the hard work I've put in this year but gutted I can't compete for the club.

Ah well. Always next year I suppose

I guess it depends where you're going on holiday, I drove back from a UK holiday to play in a pool match a couple of years ago, about a 4 hour drive (each way).

Well done, its a great honour to be asked to represent your club. Don't let it spoil your holiday. Like you said, there's always next year.

Westy, I have an agency for properties out there - have never been there so don't 'major' on them to my clients.
It will be interesting to get some unbiased feedback from you on your return as all I hear is the 'up' side of Cape Verde.

The complex (Sol Hotels managed)is well ahead I understand but the golf course is still under construction.

The flying time and airport proximity have also concerned me.

Have a great holiday and hope you are able to work out their money - your golfing ability has already been recognised by the club and you will now have a target for next year.

Like you say, at least you've been recognised officially for all the work you've done and so that is a great achievement. Work hard next season and get picked again
