I played in my first ever competition today at West Malling Masters over 2 days. My friends and I play off the yellows but have been practising off the whites over the last 10 days to not much avail.
It was raining all afternoon and not stableford but stroke play. Started bogey, par. Then a nightmare hook so a 6 on a par 3, stuck in the bunker so a 10 for a par 4. 2 over. 3 over then a birdie and then on the back nine payed much better came in with 98 so cause of 27 handicap found myself in with 71 5 shots from leader and easily made the cut of 79.
Then the gutted feeling came I went in for this for today never expecting to get through. I cant play tomorrow I am a Church Minister and people are expecting me somewehere else. To say I am gutted is the understatement especially after taking a ten.
Still Handicap has been cut to 26 and ERic Liddel( Chariots of Fire) spring to mind.
I am defintley now playing the medals

Haha unlucky there bud, I have to ask though, with it being a two day over Saturday and Sunday, surely if you wanted to qualify, Sunday was a bit of a likelihood?

Bad luck. Did you know where the cut would be? 79 (nett) seems very generous, if I had a 79 nett I'd throw my clubs in the lake, never go back and take up singing in the choir in the hope of absolving my sins.
Sounds to me that if you'd avoided the 10, you'd have been right up there....keep trying....just not tomorrow!

Am pretty sure the Modern Parishiner will understand afterall it's not like a Sunday being like it once was ..

With exception of some Islands in the Outer Hebrides

plus you'll be able to find a relief minister ASAP ..
