have been having shoulder pain and probss for a while and was told today I have two options. put up with it or exploratory surgery in march. 6-12 weeks out and off work. feel like crying lol
anyone have an alternative please.
cheers

Look at it this way.

6-12 weeks away from work and golf now.

Or

Put up with it for the rest of your days.

I know what I'd do

Have they said what the issue 'could' be?

I have had surgery on my shoulder after dislocating it 7 times, was out for 6 months.
If you are in constant pain I feel you must let them have a look.
Good news though it doesn't effect the swing too much.

thanks chaps
they think that there is pressure on the tendons as the gap there is too narrow. yhe mri didn't show too much but the op and camera exploration should show any other anomalies.

If the MRI has already been done you are down to those 2 options. You could always ask to get a second opinion but that just delays things and leaves you in pain for longer.

thanks chaps

It sounds very much like you'll need whats called a Subacromial Decompression to increase the gap between bone and your rotator cuff which will then avoid impingement on the tendon.
I left mine too long and this resulted in the tendon tbeing cut in half. As a result I had to have the tendon pinned to the bone in the hope that it would graft back on .................. it did!
It took six months before I could swing a club, which was the end of June, and now I don't even think about it.
If I had the choice I would resign myself to six months without golf, but I would aim to have the operation done in October/November time.
I've had both shoulders done now, so that should be the end of it!
All the best & let us know what happens,

Slime.

thanks matty. im going to think it over and look at all the options need a copy of the report and a friend of mine who was a surgeon said he would translate it to layman's terms for me. only bumped into him today and had a wee chat he said he would not be to recommend anything but his breakdown will allow me to make an informed decision.
he said there are three stages to look at, short med and long term so big decision ahead. thanks again chaps.

I agree very much with most of the posters, get it done and you won't look back. A few weeks off is a pain but compared to the alternative it's just a blip!
