I played this morning in conditions that can only be described as near perfect if you were into Kite-Surfing, Yachting or Wind Surfing.

I have to laugh when i hear American commentators telling us on TV that "we have gusts here of 6-9 MPH and conditions are quite blustery"......

Well id love to have them experience a proper gust of wind like the ones we had this morning.....
Im talking about hitting 4 irons under the wind from 130 mtrs to even have a small hope of getting on the dance floor.

I shot a 91 off or white tees which were pushed well back and add to that the wind i suppose a 5 over round wasnt too bad.....My wand was misbehaving.

But who i did feel for was my father (62) who really struggles with distance getting crucified by the wind.....The course was just too long for him.....

Our Par 5 5th was a smidgen in front of our blue tee's today at 485mtrs......And i hit a driver, 4 iron, 4 iron and PW to find the green:(
And then proceeded to 3 putt:confused:......

I lost 2 shots this morning from addressing the ball on the green and the wind blowing it nearly a yard from its original point.

Whats the best you've shot in really stormy conditions?

Why did you lose shots for wind blowing your ball it's not a penalty anymore?? Sure that got revised in the rules this year

I wasnt sure of that Connor so i erred on the side of caution and just stuck it on my card.....
I had said it when i went in and a note was taken about it so i might be ok.

I've shot some of my best rounds in wet'n'windy conditions.
Been in the low 70's several times.

Mind you, I've shot high 90's too...

When I was aged about 17 I shot an 86 round Muirfield in a Winter Alliance meeting of around 100 golfers.
I finished 3rd scratch with only about 8 cards returned in a right hoolie of a wind and driving rain.
One Pro shot a 79 which the Club Captain deemed to be a pro rata course record.
Just as well it was a 1.62 ball !!

Like Imurg I was a good bad weather player

I actually found it quite fun Pal...... It was interesting to see just how the wind can effect everything....As i said above...If the putting was on song then i might have been a little happier.

I have just got back from a medal round only 12 mad golfers played in the worst conditions i have ever played in. Got say it was also one of the most enjoyable rounds i have played as a 3 ball could not stop laughing at how wet we were getting anyway after 14 holes it suddenly clicked i was 3 under my handicap in theses conditions!!! Just shows you what you can do when you relax i suppose i normally fall apart in medals.

finished with a nett 73 so quite happy

Well played Hutchy.

one of the boys in my tex scramble group said to me at one of the par 3s to take 2 more clubs
i was already holding my 3 wood, swapped it for a driver and still was woefully short of the green

that was just too tough out there today!

if i had hair it would be a mess. par 5 into wind was driver fairway wood 3iron. but bloody gud laugh

Similar to that today..Like you a great laugh......The ones i got a kick out of were the ones that were travelling dead straight until they got above the tree line and it was like someone just decided to catch it and throw it sidewyas about 40 yards just for fun:fore:.. Its still howling out right now.....

It wasn't a game Heidi.....It was a battle;)

Yeah tough going in the medal today. Hit a decent driver then a solid 3 wood at a par 4 and still came up well short. Ended up with gross 83 and felt battered!

The other week playin with my two big hitting mates ( both hit driver 270 +) we all took driver on the 211 yard par 3 14th into a north wind and none made the green.
