Playing in a match in Devon this week and one of our team got into a situation involving work being done on the course.
The problem occured when one of the players sliced a drive and the ball came to rest on a pile of earth which had been dug whilst fixing some drainage. A yellow pipe was sticking out but there was no white line or notice saying GUR.
The local player insisted it had to be played as it lay or to take a penalty drop.
My question is that if there is an obvious area which is being worked on by the greenstaff are you able to assume it is GUR? I know you can do this with clippings prior to their removal but excavations?
