This could only happen in the states. A 9 year old has killed her gun instructor in a freak accident. Not with a pistol or a rifle. No this girl was being shown how to use a machine gun and lost control. When are they going to learn. Not ever me thinks.

Saw this myself truly tragic.

To my mind it's not tragic, it's completely (expletive deleted) stupid.

Where, in a Civilised Society, does a 9 year old Girl even have the opportunity to hold an Uzi, let alone be allowed to fire one.
In the Land of the Free, that's where.

And they think they run the World???

They couldn't even find the Brewery, let alone run something in it - and they'd probably spell it incorrectly too.

You will never ever in a thousand years get the American people to give up there right to own firearms. This will continue to happen as will the massacres when a madman lets loose with his own personal armoury.

While I understand where you are coming from, that girl have to live with that for the rest of her life.

She should never of had the opportunity to fire a weapon which is far to powerful for her to cope with. Given that I think an Uzi machine pistol would likely be too powerful for any of us to properly control.

As you eluded to she should not be given the opportunity to unless the gun is fixed onto a proper mount that it cannot sway from even then i'm not sure a 9 year old should be firing this kind of gun.

A few years ago a friend of mine went on his hols to Florida, he decided he son would go shooting at a range with his 14 year old son, they were allowed to use pistols. As his son fired one of the pistols a .45 I believe then gun kicked so hard it ended pointing to the ceiling I can easily imagine where this would of ended up if this were a machine pistol.

A friend of mine, and his son, went to the states, and he thought it might be a bit different to go to a gun range, and shoot some hand guns. They turned up, borrowed a glock, and with no training what so ever, were shown out to the range. This is how you load it, is all they got. See you later, use lane 18.

They were terrified by it, and gave up after a couple of shots. The son didn't even bother. No range etiquette, no gun safety, nothing. That's America for you.

my nephew sent videos back recently from Miami of him shooting a g36, uzi etc. it looks great fun tbh!

how a 9 year old is allowed to hold one of these guns blows my mind. let me put it this way. it will be another 12 years until she can hold a glass of beer!

What about this, where an 8 year old died trying to shoot the same gun at a show in 2008.

Although against it myself I can understand why parents in such a gun centred culture wish to introduce their children to weapons and safety at a young age. What I don't understand is why they want access to fully automatic weapons.

The constitution was written at a time of muzzle loaders not fully auto killing machine.

Tragic and clearly avoidable even without hindsight

I can only imagine the outrage if this children's desert teaching range wasn't in Arizona but in the middle east

I have shot numerous pistols and guns and when you have them on auto they go everywhere if you do not have full control of them there is no way on this planet that a kid should have any automatic weapon in their hands. Teach them to use guns using a .22 if you have to. For gods sake, the first time I shot a Glok I didn't have proper control over it and nearly smashed myself in the face because of the kick from it.

it is still a weird culture out here that is taking getting use to. An ex RAF mate if mine out here has got 6 bolt action WW2 rifles in a showcase fully working, a Glok, 3 pump action shotguns, 2 AR15 assault rifles one with a laser sight and one with a 2x optical sight, 3 .22 pistols and some more hand guns I can't remember what they are called.
