I am a reasonable ball striker on a flat fairway but I do not usually hit good shots off uphill / downhill / ball above feet / ball below feet lies, I need to educate myself on the set up changes. Does anyone know of any good websites that cover this?

Youtube has a host of pro golfers with how to's - meandmygolf, mark crossfield, rick shiels, pete finch, steven buzza to name a few.

Might not be what a pro teaches but my thoughts are...

Uphill - Align shoulders with slope (ie. tilt back a bit) and take more club because the slope adds loft. Ball may have a tendency to draw.

Downhill - Align shoulders with slope and take less club because the slope reduces loft. Ball may have a tendency to fade.

Above feet - Grip down on the club a bit. Take 1 extra club and swing easy trying to maintain your height. Ball may have a tendency to draw.

Below feet - Bend knees a little more than usual. Take 1 extra club and swing easy trying to maintain your height. Ball may have a tendency to fade.

That's pretty much it for me too.

Thanks guys, any advice out of the rough?

Don't be greedy.

If it's thick tangly stuff maybe hold the face open a bit and grip a bit tighter.
I also play the ball a bit further back in my stance if it's deep, just to be a bit steeper and have less grass to come through.

Being smart is the main thing though. Make sure you get out.

Solid advice there....read the same thing many times.

Brilliant summary. Not many practice off difficult lies (not many slopes at a range) but worth doing if you can find some slopes

Just a couple of other things to add. On a uphill shot the club will bottom out a bit later so the ball needs to be played a little more forward than usual.

And on a down hill shot the club will bottom out sooner so the ball needs to be played a little bit back from the norm.
