Just wanted to check the rule on a bit of a variation from the situation I have read about elsewhere. My ball was sat on the ice in a narrow water hazzard trench with steep banks on the side. I decided to play the ball off the surface of the ice. I took out a golf club and rested it on the grass (within the boundary of the yellow markers) as i balenced myself to get down the bank to play the shot off the ice. I didnt touch anything on addressing my shot or on backswing (swinging towards the bank so clear back swing). Is that a penalty? It was just a game with friends so we ignored it. Is it a penalty in an offical game though? It couldnt be testing the ground if it was sat on ice and i touched the grass. i used the club to balence myself into a position to climb down the bank, but it was not to catch my balence after loosing my balence. Is it a foul? I am leaning on saying it is....
