Neither, I just play golf and have fun, if I do that I have had a good round.

+1
I used to stress about the score, how I was playing, where I would finish and then I read a certain book. Now I go out, play golf, have a laugh with my mates and see what I get at the end of the round.
I haven't enjoyed the game more than I do now.

OOH my 2000th post. Go me!

Considering nett is derived from gross and you cant have one good without the other either of them will do.

Not for me it's not. For the majority of us it's a handicap game. Daft though it might seem - gross scores set my goals over a period - net scores tell me how well I'm faring towards achieving my goal on a round-by-round basis.

It's funny because I have only thought of gross lately (bounce games) but thinking about my recent scores. I have hit -5 under -3 under -2 under & +1

I want to start playing comps but fairly new members and joined with 4 other mates... Still sussing out my game and the course.

Has to be gross. How many strokes did I take? That's my score.

Net just tells me how I fared relative to my handicap which is an entirely artificial device to enable us all to have a competitive game together no matter how good or bad we are.

Gross and stableford, as every comp I play or have ever played has been stableford.

Well nearly, one matchplay last week.

Stableford tomorrow.
