Really played well this morning, ball striking as good as its ever been.

15 GIR
8 Fw
20 putts

No drop shots
9 birdies
1 eagle.

All in lovely weather , perfect :)

I love a Texas Scramble ;)

We were chatting about it in the bar after - pros doing it with their own ball is incredible.

I know that the times I've got to the 10th tee and been (just) 3 or 4 under, my arse has started alternating between 50p and dustbin lid!!! ;)

We had a gross 57 today which gave us a net 51.65 ( think ) and thought it was quite competitive - a group was in the clubhouse with a 49 something !!

Handicap allowance was 15% combined

They had a lady in their team who playing of 32 was given 5 courtesy shots so already had around 5 shots from her alone

Lots of mumbling in the clubhouse - but it's only a social comp anyway

Courtesy shots? Really?

Believe our SSS has increases to 70 but possibly it's still got all the old rules on the comp card. Also thought it wouldn't be valid in Texas Scramble ?

It's only a social comp anyway so doesn't bother me and good to see the whole club involved but some have taken it a bit too seriously and are complaining

I think the difference in SSS is always taken into account in mixed golf. Agree about folk taking it too seriously. I love scrambles and never been close to winning one but love trying for birdies all day! Some at our place won't play as the maximum allowance favours the low guys but so what. I just don't get the "I can't win so I won't play" attitude...get out there and have some fun

Yes, handicap adjustment as per the rules rather than "courtesy shots".

Agree re scrambles - just fun, I enjoy playing them from time to time.

We are changing for the next event ( it's a board comp ) so it's going to be 4 drives each and only ten % of combined handicap - not sure about the max allowed yet though
