I think i could do with giving my clubs a thorough clean and whilst i'm at it i'm going to try and freshen up the grooves on my short irons, especially the wedges.

All my irons are Mizuno (MX900 and MP-T wedges)... does this make any difference to what tool i get?

Can anyone recommend such a tool?

While we're at it... anyone got any recommendations for a golfing soft shell jacket that has long sleeves for tall people like me?

Any help much appreciated.

This debate has been run numerous times, with the overall view being they will make your clubs non conforming. Bet off cleaning with a brush and some water.

I would soak your clubs in some nice soapy water, then give them a good scrub and clean the grooves using a tooth-pick.

Woooooooooohhh there Chrimbo. Soapy liquid (for the dishes) will slowly rot the glue that keeps the shaft and head attached.

I have been told to use car shampoo.

A toothbrush and some warm water is all you need for your grooves Slugger.

Just make sure it's an old one, or the wife's. :D

I have heard many people on here and other websites stating that these tools will make the clubs non-conforming. As a toolmaker I do not believe that they would take any measurable amount of metal off the grooves, but will take out the burrs that have closed up the groove over time. This would merely return the club to nearer its original condition and IMHO would not make them illegal

I second that.
I've been told it's because normal washing up liquid has salt in it. Also bad for washing cars.
