Does anybody have an accurate way of measuring yourself for proper grip size......Is there an industry standard on how to tell what grip size you need......And if larger than standard are needed do the grips actually come thicker with the requirement for just 1 rap of grip tape or is there more needed under them as in the case of standard grips with more raps of tape on the shaft.....

I hope i didnt confuse anyone....It sounded fine when i was thinking about it :D :D :D

Ping webfit on their website has a section where you put your sizes in. I am sure there is one page where you have to measure the hand.
It might just give your size in their colour system though.

I'd be keen to know this too. I'm looking to re-grip my new (2nd hand) Callaway irons. They feel a little thicker than Golf Pride multis, but for some reason, Gamola don't list the thickness of the multis. I do know that the standard Callaway grip is ever so slightly thicker than what I'm used to.

When I take my grip, the two middle finger tips are close to the palm of my hand, but not touching, enough to fit in another finger tip (if that makes sense). I tend to buy medium size gloves (NOT ML or L) and have always liked the feeling of thinner grips.

I have small-ish hands (I'd say) and once played with a set of Ladies irons (borrowed my mate's mum's set with his old woods) and got on great with them. :)

Just checked there on the Ping site Dave that level5 told me about...They have a grip size chart thats probably similar to most it was pretty helpful......

Also from what iv been reading if you take your mormal grip on the club left handed if your a right handed golfer your middle and ring fingers should just touch your palm....If there pressing into it the grips are too small and if there's a noticable gap the grips are too big......

I found something also.

"Observe the middle, ring and pinkie finger’s relationship with the pad of your palm. Your fingertips should just be lightly brushing your palm pad. If there is a gap, the grip is considered too large. (The only exception would be if you have arthritis, then you would need the larger grips to alleviate pain.) If your fingertips are digging into your palm pad, the grip would be considered too small. "

My fingertips are not evern close to touching, ergo; I think I may have grips a little too thick.

I've found some grips at Gamola (Golf Pride) - basic ones with .580....could be a good choice

Oh, hold on.

.580 is a shaft measurement.

According to Ping webift, I should have AQUA. -1/64"

Simples! hold your club in your left pandy ( right for mickelson) and if your finger tips just contact with the pad of your hand then they are correct. If they are digging in then you need an extra layer of tape or less if they do not touch the pad. Hope this helps

I was thinking about regripping my drivers as I have what experts define as "sausage fingers". After reading all the things that can go wrong with them I think I would be better just taking them to a pro and paying for them to do it.

The fact that my practical skills stretch to that of kermit the frog also has a bearing and I feel it would be money well spent.

Simple answer is to take your clubs to your club pro and get him to measure and advise.

Yes, but then it's a tricky one to take advantage and then order stuff from a club supplies (£30-50), rather than part with £81 for 9 irons.

If they don't touch at all (like not even close!?) what sort of grip do you need to get? They have to have some tape - don't they?

When I ask for my clubs to be re-gripped, they always ask, "how many layers of tape - do you know?" to which I've always replied....no extra layers. Now I'm thinking I might like to try thinner grips. :D

£81 ! you're getting ripped off Dave.
I had all my irons done at £5/club with Ping mid-size by my pro. he might charge more for lessons but the rest is OK.
