Thinking of trying something other than Golf Pride ot Lamkin.

Any suggestions ?

Sharpro/ Black Widow are a bit cheaper but are they any good ?

A found Sharpo a bit soft and poor wearing. Iomic are good but not cheap. Suoerstroke also have a range of iron grips but haven't heard much about them.

Why not GP or Lamkin out of curiosity?

No reason, just weighing up options.
I'm tempted to give the Golf Pride VDR's a go.

Always found Sharpro and Black Widow a bit thin...
Recently changed to the MCC Plus 4 on my irons - OK but not entirely convinced
Still like the original GP Multi Compound..

Yep, agreed, if using the above go for the lager size. Good grips apart from the size.

Another vote for sharpro, great grips, used them for the last couple years. Much cheaper that golf pride etc. Yeah they are a bit thinner but just put a few more layers on tape on.

I did the same as you were thinking and tried something different. On my wedges I put some black widow wm1 i think they are. Adore grips are doing those at buy 1 get one free. Works out about £3 a grip.
I would agree the standard are a bit thinner than others I have had in standard, but they feel nice and look like a good multi compound grip.
On my irons I went for some iguana golf classics which are like golf pride tour velvets. I liked them cause they came in luminous yellow. I got 9 of these for £23 on eBay, Which is crazy cheap. I ve only just put these on so question marks on durability but they look and feel nice at the moment. For the money I paid I could put these on 3 times for golf prides.
My advice is look on eBay and adore as some good deals. However eBay is a hot bed for fakes but they will only copy something that's worth it, I doubt they are copying iguanas lol! Well I hope not ha

My current grip of choice in midsize

OP have a look at Winn. They do some nice Ireton grips.

Also considering the Golf pride MCC plus 4. Is this a grip designed for people with larger hands due to the thicker bottom half?

Haven't had a chance to see them in the store yet, when I was custom fit for my Ping G30 irons I was fitted for aqua grips which were one size below standard so don't want anything to thick for my woods
