Anyone got any views on Greetham Valley as a golf break? There are 30 of us go away for 4 days every year ranging from Cat 1 to Cat 7 (if there was such a thing). We don't expect the course to be top 100 quality, but equally we don't want a goat track. It looks to have everything we want but none of us have ever been there so looking for views? Cheers

lived in Greetham for much of my life and my dad was the first club captain and first club president there. Both courses are decent and playable by all handicaps. Some hefty hills on the Valley course. Hotel is very nice. Not eaten there in years though. Locally if you want food head into the village and go to the Wheatsheaf, great food and Scot and Carol will look after you well. If you want a bigger night out, get a cab to Stamford which has everything you will need. And if you fancy slipping off ofor an extra round, I am 15 minutes away at Belton Park.

Not much I do not know about Rutland so ask anything you want.

Just played them last week. To be honest they coukd have had a cracking 18 holer and 9 holer. Some stretches are a bit samey and dull but there are some stunning holes. The 17th and 18th on the Valley are awesome.

The food was really good wonderful carvery we were all stuffed. The greens on the lakes had been hollow tined which let them down a bit but I'd say you'll enjoy it

:)

Greg has it covered here, I was a member for 2 years. Cracking courses, Valley is my favourite, short but tough in places.
Food is very good there, I had dinner there a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks guys, sounds encouraging. We're thinking about it for 2016 so a way off yet but at least i sounds like a good option

Always liked Greetham Valley, really good value, haven't stopped at the hotel but glad to know the food etc is still good. I am due to play there in a society day next month so looking forward to it.

I think Greg has answered everything for you. I was a member there for 2 years and enjoyed it. Like has been said, there are a few holes that are a bit samey run of the mill holes, but to counteract it there are some fantastic holes. I think the 17th on the valley is an amazing hole.

IMO it is what it is, a great priced bargain weekend away. Not the worlds greatest golf courses, but far from a goat track. I think you would be hard pushed to find a better value golfing weekend.
