Greensomes

Played yesterday in a Greensomes Competition or it may be called a 'sorry' Comp becuause of the number of times you have to apologise to your partner. The major problem was that I play off 14 and my partner played off 1. Can be quite intimidating as I was invariably taking the 2nd shot. However I was pleased that we took my drive on 5 out of the 18 mainly because of position NOT distance! Handicap is 40% of higher and 60% of lowere which meant we had 6 shots.

Played Stableford and ended up with 41 points which equates to 1 over and was pleased with overall result.

I have an agreement with my partner that we'll NEVER say sorry when playing greensomes.
That doesn't stop us having a look at each other occasionally with that "sorry about that" look though.

Played a flag comp a few weeks ago, That was fun. For anyone who doesn't know how it works, this is how it goes.

Half combined H/C added to par of course. 2x10 H/Cs would be 20. Half of that is 10 and you add that to par of course so if it was par 70 you would have 80 shots to play with. You keep playing untill you have used them all up, and put a flag in the ground where the 80th shot has landed. Who ever gets round the most holes wins, those who are on same hole, closest o the pin wins.

Both you and your partner drive off and you choose the best one. No limit on choices, (we used about 14 of mine I think) and then it is alternate shot till you hole out.

On the day, my driving and short game was very tidy, my pals approach and putting was also very good so we ended up doing front 9 under par and back 9 a couple over. We had 1 nightmare and took an 8 on a 5 that blew us out of the prizes. We still managed to get around onto the 1st green again, winners were on 3 fairway.

We had this moment where I had pulled a drive behind some trees and my pal was up against a tree. I told him I fancy a little punch to get us back out and 100 yards down the fairway so he could play a wedge in for reg and we could take a safe two putt.... I sh***ed the punch and it was all over

Very fun game though!
