Playing in my first greensomes comp tomorrow.

My playing partner and I had agreed to play the same ball but he's had to drop out so I'll be playing with a reserve instead.

If we can't decide on a common ball to play am I allowed to switch to my ball when we play his drives/tee shots or do you have to continue the hole with the same ball that was driven (thinking more on the par 3's than elsewhere).

You can't change ball. You choose the tee shot to play then you must continue playing, and play out, the hole with that ball.

it makes no real differene, youre just giving yourself an excuse if you play bad.

Unless there is a minimum number of drives per person the solution is to hit fairways and greens on a par 3 with your tee shots then you will be using your ball - simples!

In the current weather I'm not sure it's going to make much difference anyway.
