Good evening.
Quick question for you..

Greensome pairs competition. Both players tee off, walk down the fairway and are unable to find their respective balls - what happens now?

Do they both return to the tee to hit tee shots from which the next shot can be selected or is there another option?

They can both go and play 3 to have a choice or if only 1 goes that's there designated ball..

I can see no basis for this - they have both played their tee shots as permitted under the greensomes format. They now have to decide which 'disaster' is the one to choose and one player plays next as usual - in this case proceeding under 27-1a from whereever their partner played from (in mixed greensomes this will be the 'other' tee :)

I suppose because there walking back it's different? Because they both would of been able to play a provisional and have a choice of which ball was 3 off the tee?

why? Once player A, for example, has played a provisional that ball is now in play if both tee shots are lost, the second player playing a provisional is playing it provisional on the initial provisional being lost of OOB!

note in Mixed Greensomes there is immediately 'walking' as any provisional will be played from the 'other tee'.

don't get me wrong, there's no absolutely right or wrong answer because Greensomes isn't covered by the rules, and it is therefore up to the organising committee to set out their rules in exactly the same way as a texas scramble and the multitude of options that exist under that format!

I'm just explaining why I can't see any basis for an extension of the choice element - they have had that!
