I have got my first greensomes competition coming up (first bit of competitive golf I will have had for 3 months  !) and obviously other than understanding what it involves doing I have know idea about how to go about my round. I know its alternate shot once the tee shot has been chosen so is there anything you could recommend to help the round along, perhaps some sort of tactics? Also I am playing with someone I have never played with before and have been told this could be a disadvantage if you are drawn against two people who are regular partners- would you agree?

All information / advice welcome
:D

I agree , just enjoy it, if you think about it too much it could make it harder.

I once played in the manner you are about to, my partner(whom I never played with) was layed back and so was I and we won. I simply said to him just before the first tee..."If you make a mistake I wont hold it against you and if I make a mistake I dont give a stuff" lol.We had a great laugh and a good round.

I would advise you to practice more with the clubs you don't often need. I played with my wee pal and on the first hole he drove off and to be honest I had no idea what to hit as I had never been so far away from the hole before. If you are the big hitter your partner may need to polish up his short irons.

Just be prepared to play shots you have never played, be patient, gracious, have fun, and never say sorry. This also applies to your partner.

AS you are both playing a drive surely you must take the better position bearing in mind your general didtance in relation to your partner. Also the difference in handicap for who will be playing the 3 rd shot. Whilst didtance is not everything accuracy is.

Let us know how you get on and do NOT say ,SORRY'. Easier said tah done with 4somes / greensomes!
